Spiritus By Dana Michelle Burnett Review, Interview, and Giveaway

A love that refuses to die…
“As I watched him vanish into a soft mist that faded away, I knew that he was no ordinary spirit…I knew that he was a dangerous entity that could be in some corner of another realm planning his revenge, but I also knew that I was hopelessly in love with him.”
When Becca moves into her ancestral home in Corydon, Indiana, her life takes a puzzling and thrilling turn when she meets the ghost haunting the halls. As the seductive spirit lures her closer and closer, she learns about her own past and starts to understand that some mistakes are meant to last.
Becca McAllister has always been different from other girls her age. Never part of the "in crowd", Becca never really fit in anywhere. When her mother dies and her father moves them to the small town of Corydon, Indiana, Becca didn't expect things to change.
But things do change when Becca accidentally makes contact with a one hundred and sixty year old ghost, Alastor Sinclair, that haunts the halls of her new home.
To Becca, Alastor is a seductive spirit that seems to see straight into her soul. To Alastor, Becca is what he was waited a century for--A second chance.
But the closer they get, the more Becca realizes that this isn't the first time she and Alastor have known each other. Worse still, is she the one responsible for his death so long ago? And if so, did he come back for love or revenge?

~Haunted Rose's Review~
My first impression was oh great a another ghost story. Maybe this ghost will actually stay dead. *sarcasm* I start reading and I'm like well this is just like I thought. She moves into a new place and she is an outcast. It was to be expected but then I knew I was wrong when a super hottie ghost with deep unresolved emotions starts to visit Becca. He sent shivers down my spine. I wanted Becca to fall for a super hot alive guy named Jonah but Alastor keeps coming back with his words of passion and her undeniable want to touch him. She reaches out to touch him just once and he vanishes. But you see that is not what really told me this book was different! Becca's finds out her past self, Alastor's wife, killed him herself! She starts to wonder if he is out for revenge or a second chance. She even wonders about her love decision and goes on a date with Jonah. Alastor is madly jealous and blabbers in her ear until Becca sends him away. It doesn't take long for Becca to realize she can't be without him and calls him back to her. Now I can't spoil the whole book for you but there is a part that made me cry. I felt like all love was lost. I almost gave up reading it but the words Alastor said to Becca couldn't keep me away. "You have been loved." Once Alastor is gone hopefully not forever only silence answers Becca's calling. It was beautiful captivating book about a love between a ghost husband and a reincarnated wife. I completely and utterly recommend this to all paranormal romance lovers. Who knows maybe Team Ghost is the the new trend?

~Interview~

1. Tell us about yourself.
I am a writer, a dreamer, and the proud dance mom (don't believe everything you see on television) to a beautiful daughter. My daughter is my biggest fan, but that might be because if I sell enough books, she gets a horse. Her and I take turns being each other's number one fan and cheerleader.

2. In one sentence only, why should we read your book?
Spiritus is not your average ghost story or the average romance because it will surprise you.

3. Are you working on any other works?
I am working on the sequel to Spiritus which is called Haunted. I hope to have it out in late Feb. or early March, but we'll see. I also recently got the chance to hang out with my best friend from high school and that got a few ideas for a new series turning around in my brain.

4. What authors influenced you the most?
I couldn't hold my head up in the paranormal world if I didn't give a thumbs up to Anne rice, but I also love some of the classics. My all time favorite writer is Margaret Mitchell of Gone With The Wind. I've read that book so much that it must be an influence somehow.

5. Zombies, vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, witches, or faeries and why?
I would have to say vampires just because they are so sensual. Sounds crazy when talking about something dead, but vampires are just hot.

6. What is the wildest most ironic idea you had while being an author?
Let's see....a ghost that haunts a girl, that might be his reincarnated wife....And yeah, just for kicks, why not have they wife be the one that killed him in the first place. That sounds good. Wonder if anyone would like it?

7. What is your favorite part in your book?
My favorite part is the dance scene. I don't write scenes in order for my first draft. I jump around to whatever scene I feel most strongly about at that moment. The dance scene was the very first scene that I wrote for Spiritus, so it will always be that part of the book that I feel the strongest connection to since that is when the characters first came to life for me.

8. What is your favorite book?
Gone With The Wind without a doubt. I love that book and really need to get myself a new copy. I've read my hardcover so many times that the ink is starting to wear off the edges of the pages. I keep telling myself that if my books ever crack the top ten I'm going to buy myself a first edition (maybe autographed too) of Gone With The Wind as a reward to keep and a Kindle copy of the book to read a few more hundred times. Honestly, I stay so busy writing, I don't even know if it's even available on Kindle.

9. If Harry potter and Edward Cullen had a fight what do you think the outcome would be?
As much as I love Edward (he's eye candy), I have to admit that I think Harry would kick his sparkly vampire butt.
