Wasted Words

Picture taken and edited by me
Poem also by me

You talk like you know everything
saying my beauty radiates
talking like we are meant to be
destined by the fates
And
I hear your twisted words
and the lies that are encased
you only say what I want to hear
and honestly its a waste
Time
Is running out for you and I
won't stand to hear anymore
I might feel bad in the end
but I shut you out and this door
Is Of
The most powerful barriers and
its music to my ears
I laugh in your face when
the time finally nears
The
Moment you leave. hurry up
and put your 2 cents in
really I don't hear your
wasted words just your blistering
Essence

In My Mailbox II

I went to my mailbox, crossed my fingers, and screamed with joy when I pulled out a package with 4 books!

I entered a giveaway at Once Upon A Twilight and won the mega giveaway hosted by Samantha Young. I won her book Smokeless fire with tons of swag and her fall picks. So far I have only recieved her 4 fall picks. I am currently reading Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon. So as you can see I am very happy! I am also expecting quite a few more books won from several different giveaways. I also now have 2 copies of half-blood so one I will be saving for a future giveaway maybe when I have 100 followers. And lastly I will keep my followers up to date by reviewing every single book I get. I love getting books! It's almost addictive! OCD of book hoarding. I'll try to remember to stack my books up in towers to show you I might actually have a problem.

Her younger brother, Jamie, suddenly has magical powers, and she's even more unsettled when she realizes that Gerald, the new leader of the Obsidian Circle, is trying to persuade Jamie to join the magicians. Even worse? Jamie hasn't told Mae a thing about any of it. Mae turns to brothers Nick and Alan to help her rescue Jamie, but they are in danger from Gerald themselves because he wants to steal Nick's powers. Will Mae be able to find a way to save everyone she cares about from the power-hungry magician's carefully laid trap?

Broken Butterflies

Picture found on google images
Poem by me

I once learned of a butterfly
that flies one thousand miles
only to meet one mate
and then die.
They flutter around sorta
like the ones in my tummy
do except unlike butterflies
I cry.
What happens when one butterfly
finds the other broken?
It can't cry or attack
in a mad rage.
The butterfly gets over it
and flies away only to die
very soon in its
butterfly cage.
And now whenever I see
a broken butterfly I
pick it up and let just
one tear fall slow
I think of you and what
I lost because you could never
be like a butterfly
so I let you go.

And now I'm glad I did.

The New Death and Others By James Hutchings Review, Interview, and Giveaway

Death gets a roommate...

An electronic Pope faces a difficult theological question...

A wicked vizier makes a terrible bargain...

44 stories. 19 poems. No sparkly vampires. There's a thin line between genius and insanity, and James Hutchings has just crossed it - but from which direction?

~Haunted Rose's Review~

The New Death and Others is a collection of some entertaining short stories and poems. I could tell I was reading something that took alot of thought and talent because I laughed out loud several times to the point where my librarian told me to shut up. I would like to tell you my viewers about the most ironic funny ones.
The End-
This one had me laughing becuase what are the odds of 2 vampires, a succumbus, a demon, and a regenerate coagulate rage of murdered children on a camping trip together? They all come to the conclusion of what if all the humans are wiped out? And I thought to myself It's probably true seeing as how I'm a demon too.
How the Isle of Cats Got It's Name-
This is one of my favorites mainly because I love cats and I love how the sly and smug Artemisia is. I was sad towards the end becuase of the Kitty Killer Harp (read to find out), but the smug Artemisia won at the end at the wizard Abi-simti's demise.
The Doom That Was Laid Upon Fame-
I absolutely love how he uses gods and goddesses names and characteristics to make a story in this one. My favorite part was "You know how Pestilence and War and Fame and I are the 4 riders of the Apocalypse. Well he's the fifth.  His name is Lawyers."
Everlasting Fire-
This one was the funniest and most ironic. A ironic punisher is punished because of her own lust even though she scourges the lustful.
Rumpelstiltskin-
A gnome who has the power to spin bullshit into gold becomes a consultant. The moral of the story ends up being if you can't do anything else, get into politics.

Now if you still don't think this story is worth the read then here is a little teaser poem.

If My Life Was Filmed

If my life was filmed, it would
go straight to DVD
and someone who was famous once
would have the role of me
and if five stars meant 'excellent'
you'd give it two or three
and most of those who rented it
would watch ironically.

Years later they would track me down
and do an interview.
They'd say "I heard you died," and I'd
say "Yeah, I heard that too."
"Is any of it fictional?"
"Perhaps a scene or two.
There weren't as many ninjas, but
the rest is mostly true."

Now For The Interview with the author himself!
James Hutchings!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.
I fight crime as Poetic Justice, but my day job is acting. You might know me by my stage-name 'Brad Pitt.'

IN ONE SENTENCE ONLY, WHY SHOULD WE READ YOUR BOOK?
It has a computerized pope.

ARE YOU WORKING ON ANY OTHER BOOKS?
I'm working on a verse version of 'A Princess of Mars'. This is a science fiction adventure story, now in the public domain, written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, who's more famous for Tarzan. Disney is also doing a movie of it, called 'John Carter', but that's not why I chose it. I generally work on several things at the same time, so I'm also in the middle of a few short stories and poems. I've been encouraged to write a novel set in the fantasy city of Telelee, which is the setting of a few of the stories in 'The New Death and others'. I have a lot of background for this world, because I blog every day (
http://www.apolitical.info/teleleli) and most of it is setting detail. I also have a half-finished novel called 'All-American Detectives', which is a combination of a detective story and a story about superheroes, which I'll probably come back to in the future.

*You can find his works on Smashwords*

WHAT AUTHORS INFLUENCED YOU THE MOST?
JRR Tolkien and Jack Vance for the elaborate dialogue. Robert E Howard for the general atmosphere. Terry Pratchett for the humour. Lord Dunsany for the use of Fame, Time and so on as characters.

ZOMBIES, VAMPIRES, WEREWOLVES, ANGELS, DEMONS, WITCHES, OR FAERIES AND WHY?
I actually have very little of any of them in my stories. I'm quite out of touch with contemporary fantasy. For example I've never read any of the Harry Potter, Twilight, Wheel of Time or Game of Thrones series.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STORY IN YOUR BOOK?
Probably 'The God of the Poor'.

WHAT IS THE WILDEST MOST IRONIC IDEA YOU HAD IN YOUR BOOK?
"Hey, I could probably make a living from writing."

 WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?
I read a lot more short stories than novels at the moment, so I probably have favourite stories rather than a favourite book. But perhaps The Hobbit.

IF HARRY POTTER AND EDWARD CULLEN HAD A FIGHT WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE THE OUTCOME?
A lot of slash fiction where Legolas came along and joined in.
Now for the Giveaway!

Divergent By Veronica Roth Book Review

Title- Divergent
Author- Veronica Roth
Source- ebook
Pages- 501
Publisher- Harpercollins Publishers
Publication Date- January 1st, 2011

             Amazon Summary-
Beatrice "Tris" Prior has reached the fateful age of sixteen, the stage at which teenagers in Veronica Roth's dystopian Chicago must select which of five factions to join for life. Each faction represents a virtue: Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. To the surprise of herself and her selfless Abnegation family, she chooses Dauntless, the path of courage. Her choice exposes her to the demanding, violent initiation rites of this group, but it also threatens to expose a personal secret that could place her in mortal danger. Veronica Roth's young adult Divergent trilogy launches with a captivating adventure about love and loyalty playing out under most extreme circumstances.

Review

When I first started reading this I was like YES! Another dystopian book! I bet it will be full of action and awesomeness like The Hunger Games! I was a little peeved that it resembled The Hunger Games but hey thats how the trend goes. There is the Amity, the kind, thoughtful, bright. There is the Erudite, the smart, scholar, planner. There is the Candor, the truthful, pointblank, curious. There is the Dauntless, the brave, fiery, ready to fight. Then There is Tris from the Abnegation, the boring, selfless, invisible. Abnegation takes of the most positions in the counsel becuase of their selflessness towards the factionless. Tris is tired of the constant boring life of never getting to look in mirrors, dressing in grey, oh and this one other problem. She got her test results and they are dangerous. Divergent? What does this mean? Tris is stuck in between Dauntless and Abnegation! Being Dauntless means jumping off 10 story buildings, fighting until unconsiousness, beating out her opponents, being called stiff, and getting attacked in the night. Abnegation means boring, boring, boring. What do you think she chooses?
Read this book!

Half-blood & Daimon By Jennifer L. Armentrout Book Review

For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals—pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards... and that she'll never be prepared for that duty. According to her mother, that’s a good thing. But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return—the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill. The daimons have found her.

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

~Haunted Rose's Review~

I got both of these books in a giveaway and boy was I excited to open up my mail and see these books! I was like finally! I couldn't put them down so I ended up finishing both of them in one day. Alex is the perfect main charcter. She is brave and soft at the same time. She struggles with the death of her mom and the problem of her crush on a pure. She learns something about her self that she wishes will never happen and now she is stuck between decisions that you will just have to read in Pure. Aiden is also the perfect character. He reminds me alot of Dimitri in the Vampire Academy Series by Rachelle Mead. They both are in love with someone they shouldn't be and she is stupidly brave. They series did remind me alot of the Vampire Academy series but I lean towards Greek mythology more so this series caught my attention more than the vampires did. Half-blood also gave me a whole new perspective on Greek mythology. I would expect the gods to be more in it like in the Percy Jackson series but the absense of them adds more of a mystery to it. I was very surprised by the outcome as well. I really expected more of a sad ending to lead into Pure but I thought it was amazing. I am now anxiously awaiting Pure. So if you are interested in Greek mythology, or even just the paranormal fantasy books I recommend you read this series!

Decaying

Picture was taken and edited by me
Poem is also by me

Lying on the floor
she sleeps.
Already dead
her soul decays.
She tries to stand.
She tries to breathe.
She tries to speak.
She tries to live.
Then she thinks that alive people never understood.
how great life is,
how wonderful and magical it is,
until it's gone.
And here she lays
pitiful dead spirit.
She whispers into the wind
but even that doesn't hear her.
She is not real.
She is gone.
She has disappeared.
No coffin.
No jar.
Just barren floor.
All because she realized
too late
how great life is.
And now she suffers
the consequences
of her mistake.
Decaying in your home
waiting for the discovery
of a girl who lost her soul
to the knife.
Stabbed herself once.
No one to stop her.
Thought she was unloved, unnoticed,
barely alive inside.
She dreamt her days away in fantasy
living out her nightmares.
Wishing she were dead.
Then comes upon the idea
of suicide.
When it is too late to go back
she sees the truth.
Now she really is dead.

Drama

All this drama
all these glorified
LIES
swell up like a nasty zit
spread around like
RUMORS
I laugh in it, cry in it
as I am encased in it's
SECRETS
It pulls me in on its
imaginary rope and
I
Fall into the mudpit
in this tug-of-war
Give
Yourself up to the gossip
stir up the details
In
The brew of the latest
scandals and breath it in
To
Make yourself queen bee
the wicked witch of
The
north south east west
you'll find it anywhere. It's
Drama.

Destined By P.C & Kristen Cast Book Review

Zoey is finally home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side, and preparing to face off against Neferet -- which would be a whole lot easier if the High Council saw the ex-High Priestess for what she really is. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together -- if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow.
But there are new forces at work at the House of Night. An influx of humans, including Lenobia's handsome horse whisperer, threatens their precarious stability. And then there's the mysterious Aurox, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous teen boy who is actually more -- or possibly less -- than human. Only Neferet knows he was created to be her greatest weapon. But Zoey can sense the part of his soul that remains human, the compassion that wars with his Dark calling. And there's something strangely familiar about him . . .
Will Neferet's true nature be revealed before she succeeds at extinguishing Light? And will Zoey be able to touch Aurox's humanity in time to protect them all? Find out what's destined in the next thrilling chapter of the House of Night series.

~Haunted Rose's Review~

(Spoiler Alert *sorta*)
I have been waiting so long for this to come out! My favorite series in the whole world is House of Night and I am just in love with Zoey. She is like my alter ego except I don't spurt magical spirit fireworks and enjoy the taste of blood. Oh and I don't have a cat named Nala or have an awesome arrowboy warrior or have an arch enemy who is out to kill me. The first thing you should know is Do Not Read This If You Haven't Read The First 8 Books. You will get lost really fast and won't enjoy as much as you would have if you read the other ones first. Anyway, if you did then you will really love this book in the series! There is some new people, new problems, and a new adventure, but there is still that old problem: Neferat. Nasty Caniving Little B-word. Yeah she has been consorting with the white bull and the whole world needs to find out!
*Here are my spoilers that aren't really spoilers*
Zoey is going to find out what really happened to her mom. Dragon becomes Bryan. Shaunee will become her own person. Lenobia will be affected by a human male. Rephiam is going to gain something he lost and lastly Kalona will be a warrior again.

Ah hell, is that it? Nope that was just the tip of the iceburg. I bet I really just ruined your day. Now you have the undeniable want to get this book and read it before you explode from suspence!

I Can't Take It Anymore

Picture found on Google Images
Poem by me
Overload, Overdrive
Too much information
Leaking out
Becoming nothing
Tapping my pencil
To the rhythm of my heart
Thump the thump the thump
It falls and I
Put my hands to my temples
Meaningless words for a
Worthless grade
Everything bothers me
Clocks ticking
Obnoxious Coughing
Giggleing Whispers
A disgusting sneeze
And I think
That's it!
I can't take anymore
Multiple Choice
Anymore
Fill in the blanks
Anymore
True or false
Honestly when will this matter?
When will I matter?
I won't
And that is why
I can't take it anymore
So I set my pencil down...
...for now.

The Demon's Lexicon By Sarah Rees Brennan Book Review

Nick and his brother, Alan, have spent their lives on the run from magic. Their father was murdered, and their mother was driven mad by magicians and the demons who give them power. The magicians are hunting the Ryves family for a charm that Nick's mother stole -- a charm that keeps her alive -- and they want it badly enough to kill again.
Danger draws even closer when a brother and sister come to the Ryves family for help. The boy wears a demon's mark, a sign of death that almost nothing can erase...and when Alan also gets marked by a demon, Nick is desperate to save him. The only way to do that is to kill one of the magicians they have been hiding from for so long.
Ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse, Nick starts to suspect that his brother is telling him lie after lie about their past. As the magicians' Circle closes in on their family, Nick uncovers the secret that could destroy them all.

~Haunted Rose's Review~

My first impression was wow this is going to be just like every other paranormal book. I might as well just not take the time to read it. Then I started reading and I was a little surprised that it was something new. It seems like todays books are all about vampires, werewolves, faeries, or even fallen angels. This one is completely demons and magicians. It gave me a whole new perspective on demons and the main character. Nick isn't your average every day character. He is fearless, compassionless, and feelingless. He kills without a thought and wonders why he can't be like anyone else. He doesn't understand love or why his mother dispises him with all her heart. I felt sorry for him but at the same time he was captivating. For the first time it seemed like the main character was a hero and a villian. I recommend this book and series to anybody who wants some new paranormal and is interesting in reading the sexy bad boy side of the main character.

Fall

Picture found on Google Images
Poem by me

First time I saw him, I
could feel this snowball of
my soul rolling down a mountain
How
could I, loser of love, fall in
so deep that this avalanche of
my sul knows its mate and
Do I
even know for sure? he could
be saying what every girl wants to
hear and yet I yearn to
Fall
into his arms. Is it a mistake?
Can someone love me of all people?
Or am I completely and utterly
Out Of
my mind? Does he see what
I do? Can I stop this? Is
there a way? Is this
Love?

How do I fall out of love?

Despair

Picture found on google images
Poem by me

I hate this feeling of
butterflies floating in
Love
rapidly fluttering and
making me lose control
Is
no way to stop temptation
what could ruin me is
A
brokenheart and tears
but I still fall into a
Pit
of obsession because I
never felt this tingeling
Of
wanting more and now
I can't go back because
all thats left is
Despair.

Love is a pit of despair.
