Goodreads Summary-
It’s two weeks before Triss turns 18, and her world is about to change into the most magical one imaginable as she readies herself to enter The Witch Avenue Order... that is until her mother’s disappearance. Instead of celebrating her transformation, she finds herself spreading rose petals into her mother’s empty grave. When Logan, her best friend from junior high, moves back to town for college, he vows to help her find the answers she so desperately seeks surrounding her mother’s disappearance. As they begin uncovering clues, it becomes apparent that the life of white magic they both grew up loving is not what the majority practices, and their lives are in danger. With a haunting feeling that her mother may still be alive, she begins to hear a call to the wilderness. Triss realizes that in order to find the answers she needs, she must learn the ways of her ancestors and become the hunter, not the hunted before it’s too late, and she becomes part of the lonely souls.

Cover Thoughts-
Le Amo! I love it! The girl on the cover is wearing a dress that comes up later in the book that I would absolutely love to own. The scene behind her reminds me of the nature and the cabin she is living in after her mothers disappears too. My favorite part of the cover is the spider webs. It adds the dark, caught in a cruel web feeling to it.
First Thought-
I am very excited to read this! I love Karice Bolton's other Watchers series so this must be good as well. Plus who doesn't like reading about witches?
What I liked-
My favorite series by Karice Bolton by far. There is action. There is love. There is regret, loss, adventure, and betrayal. My absolute favorite scene is when Logan gives Triss an enchanted snake. It can turn into a killer bow as soon as she says the magic words. That scene showed Logan and Triss' love and trust for each other and the need to keep each other safe. I also want a snake that can turn into a bow too. Anyway, the beginning was perfect. The first chapter is a good day at the beach and suddenly her mom disappears and I was already on the edge of my seat. Then the next chapter is her memorial. I felt so suddenly sad and hooked on the book. Triss' life just went downhill from there. If it wasn't for Logan her longtime childhood friend/maybe lover then she probably would have slipped into the lonely souls grasps. The Lonely Souls; empty shells, ghosts, so desperately in need of some sort of love but always an unnerving never ending absolute sadness. Maybe her mother is one, maybe not. You won't figure it out until you read it. What I loved the most of the whole book was the ending. That is when the real action starts and ends. It's a shocker and diffidently not a disappoint-er.
What I disliked-
At times I was a bit annoyed by the boringness of Logan and Triss. I mean they are in love and that is cool and all but, the story just felt empty in the middle. I wanted the adventure to start. I wanted something so freaking awesome to happen and it seemed like I was on the edge of my seat all for nothing...well except the end. The beginning and the end made the story amazing. The middle to me just need some more of something. I was also hoping for more witch culture and spells to come up. I want to know so much more about it! Karice has like her own idea and side of The Witch Avenue Order and I want to know more! I'm hoping the next book contains everything I want to know. :) But hey where's the fun in that? Keeping readers hooked on the answers until the very end is the only way to go.
Overall Readability-
If your into anything romantically paranormal or supernatural this is it. This is your next search. Type in Lonely Souls by Karice Bolton on Google or just click the links below that bring you straight to the book. I totally be on look out for the next installment in the series. Lonely souls is heartbreaking, ghostly, and magical. It's easy to read, fast-going, and probably an all in one sitting type of book.
My Final Thought-
I sincerely hope Triss doesn't go to the dark side even if they do have her mom possibly. :(
