On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.
In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.
~Haunted Rose's Review~
A Beautiful Dark is of course another book I got in a giveaway. I haven't heard much about it so I didn't read it right off the bat. I was so wrong! I stayed up all night so I could finish! So first Skye goes to her birthday party and meets 2 really different guys. She notices them following her and meeting her in odd places. Not only is she dealing with 2 creepy stalkers but she has noticed strange occurances with her eyes turning silver and events that can only be explained as she has gone crazy! I loved the pace, setting, and everything about the beginning. It's end had me staring open mouthed at the book saying When's the next one coming out? Seriously the twist at the end had me crying No! Why! Why! I was so engrossed in the novel that I did not notice I accidently arrived late to my next morning class. A beautiful Dark is at the top of my list for this month's best. I recammend this book for all lover's of the paranormal! Now seriously go read this book or you might regret it.
Next book in the series-
I give it 5 out of 5 haunted roses

Hi, I like the review! I'm pretty much here to tell you the same thing Valerie said. I chose you as a recipient of The Liebster Blog Award! Congrats and you can see it here: http://leahjohnsonbookz.blogspot.com/2011/12/liebster-blog-award.html
ReplyDeleteThe female lead, Skye Parker, was strong yet vulnerable and confused. She had normal (I use that term loosely) problems, but on a cosmic level, if that makes any sense at all. I never got the sad abandoned vibe or the overly angry and destructible teenager. We got a girl who has gone through a terrible tragedy and is stumbling through her own path of redemption with friends, what little family she has in Aunt Jo, and of course boys¿what¿s a YA novel without a good love triangle anyhow?
